Gina Keatley: Artist, Founder, and Creative Principal
Gina Keatley is a contemporary abstract expressionist and creative leader whose work explores transformation, resilience, and the emotional power of contrast. Best known for her signature collection, Untamed Moderns, Keatley creates richly textured compositions that balance deep monochrome surfaces with moments of mandarin orange—an enduring symbol of human creativity and connection. In 2024, Keatley founded Bushwick Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, transforming an industrial space into a destination for emerging and established contemporary artists. In 2026, following a successful period of growth and programming, Keatley transitioned ownership of Bushwick Gallery to focus on the next chapter of her international creative practice.
That next chapter is Salt Road Studio, an international creative studio operating between New York City and Akō, Japan. Founded by Keatley in 2026, Salt Road Studio serves as the umbrella for her artistic practice, publishing projects, residency programs, and cultural initiatives. Rooted in movement, material exploration, and cross-cultural exchange, the studio reflects Keatley’s belief that creativity thrives through connection between people, places, and disciplines. Through Salt Road Studio, she continues to expand her work globally while developing opportunities for artists to engage with new environments and perspectives.
Artistic Leadership and Global Perspective
Beyond her role as an artist, Keatley is an educator, author, and cultural storyteller. She serves as an adjunct professor of International Cuisine at CUNY Queens College, where she explores the relationship between culture, history, and creativity. Her work has extended into television, publishing, and public speaking, including her Amazon Prime series Deliciously Diverse and appearances across major media outlets.
Her projects consistently bridge art, culture, and sustainability. Drawing inspiration from travel, place, and material experimentation, Keatley often incorporates found and repurposed materials into her work.
